Brenden: Planet model for cinematic

Here’s the planet ready for the cinematic. It comes in 8 different pieces. I recommend trying to render this scene in Mental ray with smooth preview turned on, unless you would rather smooth the geometry and just render in software, its up to you. The lighting may need adjustment but I positoned it the best I could. Some lights are linked to certain objects FYI. Also, check the layers cuz I have some geometry (Space sphere and atmosphere) set as a reference so it doesn’t interfere with selections.

Brenden: Last minute to do list

So here’s the end of our 2 quarters as Team Uno. Before we wrap this up there is a few more things to jot down and work on during this coming week. These are things that I have noticed and think need to be done, if you guys have noticed other issues in the demos and such, pitch in.

Start Screen:

- Let’s ditch the sub title, we’re sticking with Infractus, we haven’t been given any better name since it has come up, so now its sticking.

-perhaps a screen dedicated completely to describing controls right after they start the game, easy for players to understand

-ditch the backstory and narrations but only if we get the cinematics in right

Windmill:

-Done, unless you guys want something fixed

Outside world:

- Trigger to open the cave after collecting all 10 energy cores (maybe something to tell the player to head there, one idea I had was to force the map to come on screen after all 10 are collected and it’ll just highlight the cave area in red)

- Shroomski (he is in the game, but he is facing on the X direction in maya and causes him to chase down Gad leading with his side. If we still want him in the game, we need to fix that)

- swim trigger, we almost have it down. If it can’t get done within next week, we probably have to ditch it. Gads animations on the outside world are a little messed up right now and need to be restored

Mine cart ride:

-right now it starts with Gad in the cart, standing still and it just coasts along. i dont care if we want to keep it with him starting in the cart, but we should apply his cart riding animation

-animated rocks falling at the end

-segway into cave boss area

-more aesthetic of surroundings at the end?

Cave boss:

-animated rocks falling on boss

-fade out after boss is defeated, unless you guys want something else. A fade would be easier and would work well to segway in to the ending cinematic

-shroomski in the cave?

Cinematics:

-looking at you Robin for the animations

-application of cinematics in the game

-model and texture of planet

-bridge UVed and textured (the pedestal bridge)

-space ship with our custom textures (I’ll get that to you Robin)

Credits:

-I don’t care if it’s just a static shot of text displaying our names or a scrolling list, we need to get our names on this

Party:

-It’s been a long 22 weeks!

Alright try out this demo, the boss battle should function a little bit better this time around.

I fixed the scaling issues on the cart, tracks, and ivy. I removed the invisible barrier at the start and placed more rocks to keep the players from getting across, I tested it out and it should be okay to which the players will not get stuck if they climb it. I scaled down on the rotating platform as well so that the boss can reach it better and give the players a little difficulty dodging the attacks. I added in yellow crystals on the pillars to help as an indication to the players to attack them and not the boss directly. I’m having trouble with the audio source on the pillars, it should be set correctly but I’m not hearing the hit noise. Maybe the music is drowning it out?

I removed the right hand hit trigger of the boss, so now Gad is only damaged from his left hand which of course is the only hand he now attacks with instead of having him do the double handed attack which pretty much encompasses the entire rotating platform. This is probably the best route to go, because the boss tends to flail a lot during his animations and his right arm will swing in the direction of Gad causing damage when he wasn’t supposed to.

The lava is still a fallout catcher, as in Gad will die and respawn just outside the lava portion of the cave if he falls into the lava, this was just a quick test I threw in there, if you guys would prefer him to swim and lose health in there instead, then we can try that route.

I also applied Dan’s hammer texture to the weapon and adjusted its position so its not clipping through Gad’s head as he runs. It still clips alittle, but its not very noticable as before.

I know we are all burnt out on this, take my comments at face value with a grain of salt…

Am i really the only one seeing how OFF our sense of scale is in this game?

Brenden: Cave door

Here’s a quick model and texture of the cave entrance door, which will sink into the ground the moment the player collects all 10 energy cores. I tried my best to make this door look grimy and old, but also alerting the player the importance of the door.

Does that icon in the middle symbolize an energy core enough? And would you get the hint that the door would only open after 10 of them are collected? Let me know what you think.

Also, expect some ivy and leaves on it when in the engine.

The boss fight script is done. Except for the rocks (Jayson, you forgot to attach the file to the email!!!), and that the boss model had ALL reversed normals, and the arms dissapear if you turn the camera at certain angles. WHY are the arms seperate geometry??? -_-

I just wanted to put it out there that I cannot continue with the boss until the two animation files are merged. We asked for it on Wednesday, yet nobody confirmed that it had been done, nor could I find a file where they were merged.
